Rihanna Stars in Pharrell Williams' First Campaign for Louis Vuitton

The new Creative Director of the French maison's menswear line taps on his longtime friend to front Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2024 Men's collection

After teasing an image of his first campaign as Creative Director of Louis Vuitton's Menswear the day of his first show at Paris Fashion Week, Pharell Williams has unveiled the full Spring/Summer 2024 campaign starring Rihanna and this is your first look. Shot by Keizō Kitajima and Martine Syms and styled by Cynthia Lu and Matthew Henson who are long time collaborators of Williams, the campaign focuses on two icons: Rihanna and The Speedy handbag.

The superstar and beauty mogul rocks her pregnant belly and the new Speedy in vibrant, primary colours like yellow, blue and red — an icon in the French maison's accessory lineup since its creation by Gaston-Louis Vuitton himself in 1930. It was also one of the first bags Williams' owned and this new interpretation of the classic is inspired by Canal Street on Lower Manhattan, New York City where he was first exposed to luxury fashion.

This new Speedy is a tribute to the classic Speedy's instantly recognisable trapezoid shape. With its supple grained calf leather, lambskin lining and the label's iconic silk-screened Monogram pattern, the Speedy, till today, remains a timeless and versatile piece of luxury in any wardrobe. From Audrey Hepburn, who, in 1965, requested a smaller version of the Speedy to fit her petite frame to now global icon Rihanna, safe to say The Speedy is here to stay.
