Pantone's 2022 colour report: We pick out the 6 hottest shades for the new year

The Pantone Fashion Colour Trend Report gets released by the Pantone Color Institute as a means of predicting design trends during Fashion Week. Bubblegum, Popcorn and Sudan brown are just a few of the shades that are expected to make an appearance on the Spring/Summer 2022 runways.
As the year comes to an end, get a head start on planning your 2022 wardrobe with some outfit inspiration courtesy of these A-list celebrities and Pantone’s colour predictions.
Sudan Brown
This rich, warm, yellow-toned brown is chic, earthy and perfect for creating the ultimate '90s look – a trend that has been exploding on social media. A-list celebrities like Rihanna, Winnie Harlow, Blackpink's Rosé and style influencers Camila Coelho and Pernille Teisbaek have all been spotted wearing it.
Giving off serious Greek goddess vibes, Rihanna wore a stunning, one-shoulder Bottega Veneta dress while in Barbados. The Barbadian singer had flown in to be part of the presidential inauguration ceremony to celebrate its status as a new republic.
Model Winne Harlow stuns in vintage Versace. Sporting a bondage-style corset top and a sparkly maxi skirt, she exuded '90s supermodel chic.
Blackpink's Rosé was spotted in a baggy, oversized cropped Sudan brown knit and jeans, in a look that perfectly mixed the '90s brown trend with the model-off-duty cool-girl look.

Coffee Quartz
Another '90s shade, Coffee Quartz is a luxury, cool-toned chocolate brown that works great for both casual and glamorous looks. This shade has been seen on music stars like Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande. Model and former Victoria's Secret Angel Jasmine Tookes has also been spotted in this hue.
Who can forget Jennifer Lopez's rustic yet sultry, western-inspired Ralph Lauren ensemble at the 2021 Met Gala? Draped in the rich chocolate brown shade, her stunning feather-trimmed gown featured a thigh-high slit and plunging neckline.
Model Jasmine Tookes rocks two '90s trends, chocolate brown and the slip dress in this effortlessly chic, casually glamorous look. She paired her slip dress with a matchy-matchy lip, contrasting accessories and for more 90's nostalgia, a white claw clip.
Ariana Grande wore this classy, little brown Dolce & Gabbana dress when she was a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show. The sexy, form-fitted dress was reminiscent of the little black, strappy, straight neck slip-on dresses of the '90s.

Bubblegum
Bubblegum pink is going to be one hot shade for Spring/Summer 2022. Everyone from Victoria Beckham, to Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid has been seen wearing this sweet, early '00s retro Barbie pink hue.
Kim Kardashian is photographed in a Bubblegum pink Balenciaga catsuit in a shiny, spandex fabric that accentuated her figure and paired it with a matching feather coat. This bold, all-pink look definitely made a statement giving off serious glamour.
Influencer Negin Mirsalehi kept it sweet and classy in this preppy, bubblegum pink tweed Valentino look at Paris Fashion Week. She paired the dress with matching, chunky pink platforms. With her hair set in perfect waves, nude lip and winged liner she looked like the ultimate, ultra-chic Barbie.
Former Spice Girl turned designer Victoria Beckham posted a selfie wearing a bubblegum pink knit from the VBxWoolmark collection. She paired the top with bright, coral orange corduroy pants.
German style influencer Leonie Hanne channels her inner Barbie girl in this super cute candy pink two-piece with purple accents and a bubblegum pink Chanel shoulder bag. The ultimate Y2k summer beach look? We sure think so. She amped up the Y2k factor with a beaded necklace, complete with a shell pendant.
Swedish fashion blogger Matilda Djerf is a 90's summer fashion dream in this ensemble featuring Pantone's bubblegum shade. She pairs a bubblegum pink tube top with high-waisted pinstripe shorts. The look is accessorised with some of the ultimate 90's accessories. A multi-coloured, floral beaded choker necklace and a thick, rainbow stripe headband.
Need more proof that early '00s trends are back? Check out model Bella Hadid in this bubblegum pink shirt with O ring detail and low-slung light wash denim jeans, where chunky gold hoop earrings, a short-chain necklace and more chunky accessories like rings and bangles completed her look. This shade is definitely a go-to for creating Y2k looks!
Popcorn
What's spring without a pastel? This buttery, sunshine yellow shade is soft yet bright, all at the same time. And it has been spotted all the A-listers – from Kylie Jenner to Bella Hadid, to Alexa Chung and Emma Roberts. Model Josephine Skriver and influencer Negin Mirsalehi have also donned this beautiful shade.
Continuing her Y2k looks, Bella Hadid posted a picture on Instagram in this gorgeous hue. She wore a slightly cropped turtleneck knit top from the brand verconiik with a denim mini skirt, black, knee-high boots and colourful beaded bracelets. Bella is definitely the queen of Y2K chic.
Danish model Josephine Skriver looks oh so sweet and Spring/Summer ready in this fluffy knit two-piece. Check out her matching butterfly clips and delicate silver choker. Need we say more? The early '00s are back.

This bright, blue-toned cherry red is what vintage summer dreams are made of. Hailey Beiber, Emily Ratajkowski and Jeanne Damas are just some of the stylish names that have been wearing this colour.

This bright, vivacious coral orange has a peachy hue to it, reminiscent of coral coloured roses. A sassy floral shade for spring or summer, it has been spotted on Hollywood A-lister Zendaya, and style influencers Olivia Culpo and Caroline Daur.
Brand ambassador Zendaya stunned in a Valentino gown at the 2021 Critics Choice Awards. The dramatically elegant dress featured a voluminous, full flared skirt in Pantone's coral rose shade. She teamed the dress with jewellery from Bulgari.
Socialite, model and fashion influencer Olivia Palermo has also been seen rocking this shade. She posted pictures of herself from a summer beauty shoot wearing an orange knit tank which she edged with a detailed, leather, high low, mermaid hem skirt, giving the look a downtown '80s meets '90s retro-chic vibe. For an added splash of summer, she accessorised with gold hoop earrings, flat top sunnies, and a bold red lip.
Model Josephine Skriver posted a picture of herself at the Electronic Daisy Carnival (EDC) music festival in Las Vegas decked out in a coral rose hued comber jacket. She completed the '80s retro festival look with neon accessories and make-up in a similar shade.
