New Shoe on The Block: The Snakeskin Print Boot

The Gucci Spring 2022 Ready-To-Wear show saw the unique pairing of snakeskin print boots with dreamy, whimsical, lace-trimmed, bohemian dresses and cowboy hats, creating a boho-desert-chic aesthetic that evoked the mystic romanticism of the Southwest.

The flurry of floral and paisley dress looks was broken up with the addition of a gorgeous, yellow-toned ochre jumpsuit with a wide, ruffle bottom pant leg and pussy-bow collar. The rich, warm ochre hue of this retro-look number was reflective of the colours of America's desert landscapes. A contemporary twist was presented through the addition of a corset style, black bodice. The sleek, shiny black of the bodice picked up on the black notes of the snake print on the boots, pulling the entire look together. Both the bodice and ruggedness of the boots lent an edgy feel to the billowy femininity of the outfit.  

Khloe Kardashian and American fashion blogger Aimee Song have both taken to styling the snake print boot with pastels. Teaming the sexier, rugged print with a soft pastel creates an edgy-feminine aesthetic for those days when you aren't feeling in an all-pastel mood. 

Posing on a large, Louis Vuitton trunk, Khloe showed off her figure in a powder blue, skintight dress midi dress with long sleeves and a high neckline. Her statement grey-toned snake print boots picked up on with the cool tones of the dress while other cool-toned accessories like a slate grey, Hermès Birkin bag and thick, silver chain necklace pulled the whole look together. The cool tones continued through the look as Khloe's defined pout was painted in a chic, soft, cool-toned brow.

Aimee Song seems extremely fond of this accessory, she even owns different styles of the boot which she wore in a set of Instagram pictures featuring a monochrome, pastel sage green ensemble. The pointed toe variation of the boot is one that truly lent that chic, Southwestern feel to her outfit, especially when teamed with Prada's Mini Chloe bag. The saddle shape of the bag added to the feel of the Old West while the fresh, springtime green added a softness, creating a harmonious blend of texture and colour. 

In another look, Aimee, like Khloe, went with cool tones. Her bright-pastel sky blue, button-front midi dress was styled with blue-toned, knee-high, heeled snake print boots that matched perfectly with the blue of the dress. For a little girlish charm, the blue-hued look was contrasted with Chanel's Tweed Quilted CC Filigree Vanity Case in pink. 

It does not get more classic Americana than jeans and a t-shirt. Parisienne model and founder of Rojue, Jeanne Damas lends her sophisticated, French girl touch to this classic combination by throwing on some snakeskin print boots.

In a more casual look, Jeanne paired a cherry red t-shirt with white jeans and warm-toned, brown snakeskin print boots to match the warmer tones of the red t-shirt that added to the Americana feel, while the choice of white jeans instead of blue gave the look a fresher, modern feel.  

In another, slightly more polished ensemble, Jeanne is seen in cooler-toned, grey snakeskin print boots that featured a slimmer heel. Teamed with a crisp white t-shirt and classic blue jeans, the slimmer heel lent a sophisticated, elegant feel to the outfit. Just right for those days where you want to look dressed up without having to put in too much effort.

The queen of Southwestern chic, American model Rocky Barnes pairs a crisp, white, wrap blazer style top with a fitted black skirt that had a slight sheen to it. The button-down side of the skirt was left half unbuttoned creating an unabashedly sexy silhouette. This uniquely glamorous, contemporary feel look was given a kiss of the Old West with a pair of knee-high, grey, snakeskin print boots that featured sophisticated, slim heels with a rounded top edge that felt reminiscent of cowboy boots.  

Fashion blogger Janelle Marie Llyod edged out the feminine pleats of her high-waisted, belted, nude brown skirt and crisp, contemporary sleeveless blouse with similar thin heeled pointed boots, adding a dose of drama and texture to the clean, neutral palette of her outfit. The thin heel ensured the sophisticated elegance of her look was not diminished. 

The beauty and versatility of the snakeskin print boot lie in the neutrality of its print and pallette. The classic grey, black and white or brown hues, commonly associated with a snake print, allow for it to stand up to a variety of other prints and colours without making an outfit look too busy. 

Looking like an image right out of Coachella, Rocky Barnes teams knee-high, sandy brown, snakeskin print boots with a medium wash, blue denim, high-waisted pair of shorts, a black top and a statement, multicolour kaftan cardigan with slightly voluminous, balloon sleeves for a little drama. The tassel detail of her mustard yellow cross-body bag added to the festival feel of the look and blended well with the warm brown tone of the boots.
