Bring It Back to the ‘70s with Rabanne and H&M’s Collab Collection
Think disco balls, sequins, animal prints and jacquard retro knits.
The ‘70s saw the rise and celebration of disco. And with disco came the bright colours, the slinky disco pants and the disco mirror ball, a lasting emblem of the decade. For H&M’s latest collaboration with luxury designers, the brand has partnered with Rabanne to produce a collection inspired by the glitz and groove of the ‘70s.
When the founder, Paco Rabanne, of the Spanish-French label revolutionised glam in the ‘60s with his metallic mesh dress, the world of fashion was forever changed. Suddenly, a stiff and fragile material was given the ease and liberating qualities of soft fabrics. The collection, in collaboration with H&M, draws on those fundamental Rabanne styles, with flowing fringe, shimmering metallic paillette dresses and loud prints all in one place.
Creative Director of Rabanne Julien Dossena wove in elements familiar to the label, with her own touches of effortlessness, for a collection perfect for a glamorous cocktail hour. Floor-length sequined skirts and retro knits work their way onto the dancefloor for a welcome blast to the past. For a fully captivating look, gold and silvery accessories in the form of bags, caps and necklaces are available in the collection too, for a full ‘70s reboot. The collection features both womenswear and menswear pieces.
If the clothes aren’t enough to transport you back to the ‘70s, Rabanne and H&M have also teamed up to create a capsule collection of home goods. Complementary to the fashion collection, the H&M Home pieces exude the same mirrored magnetism through metallic-sequin curtains and lamps, monogrammed trays and geometric rugs, for just the right twist of splashy flamboyance.
The Rabanne H&M collection and H&M Home collection will launch in selected stores and online at hm.com on November 9th 2023.
