Miu Miu Channels Warhol in its FW18 Campaign Film
After introducing us to its girl gang in its Fall/Winter 2018 campaign, Miu Miu has now given us a glimpse of the models and Hollywood It-girls in action. Sort of. Titled "Other Conversations", the Italian label's new film features lo-fi footage of Elle Fanning, Rowan Blanchard, Georgia May Jagger, the Aboah sisters and more bringing out their inner Warholian in a nondescript Central London basement.
At the direction of Pulp's Steve Mackey and Jesus and the Mary Chain bassist Douglas Hart, that meant staring unblinkingly at the camera with deadpan faces, mirroring the protagonists of Andy Warhol's famous Screen Tests. What the girls lack in facial expressions, though, they make up for with their dramatic appearance: heavy winged eyeliner, an assortment of '60s hairstyles and standout pieces from Miu Miu's Fall/Winter 2018 collection.
Set to the droning soundtrack of two unseen women nonchalantly commenting on the girls' bobs, bee-hives and pixie cuts, the erratic Other Conversations leaves us with a clear message: the Miu Miu girl gang is not to be messed with.
