Meet The Off-White C/O Jimmy Choo Collection
Streetwear has been enjoying a renaissance lately — if Supreme's recent CFDA nomination is anything to go by — and we don't think that's going away anytime soon. Not that we mind, especially since even luxury fashion houses have succumbed to the cult appeal of the hip-hop- and skate-influenced labels to give us collaborations we never knew we needed.
Gosha x Burberry made oversized checkered shirts cool, Louis Vuitton x Supreme broke the Internet with monogrammed skateboards, and now the Off-White C/O Jimmy Choo collection has us wanting to own our very own pair of plastic-covered stilettos à la Rihanna.
Introducing nine new shoe silhouettes, the collection marks the first time that the renowned British accessories label has collaborated with a ready-to-wear designer. While Off-White's Creative Director and long-time Kanye West collaborator Virgil Abloh may seem like a surprising choice, the resulting collaboration has undoubtedly brought a fresh and unique voice to the world of luxury footwear.
Below, we highlight our 5 favourite styles from the Off-White C/O Jimmy Choo collection.
Claire is really an iteration of Jimmy Choo's iconic Lance shoe that has been updated to include the unique detail of ruched PVC that wraps around it. We've seen the clear plastic trend everywhere from clothes (think Burberry's PVC coat) to bags (remember that SS18 Céline plastic bag?), but seeing it on stilettos makes even more sense: the plastic creates the perfect illusion of a boot while keeping the stilletto itself practically untouchable and eternally stain-free. Talk about luxurious.
Forget everything you know about what a pair of killer boots should look like — the Elisabeth boots are it. These one-of-a-kind, knee-high showstoppers come encased in either PVC or a tornado of tulle, a nod to the gowns of the collection's royal muse and Jimmy Choo devotee, Princess Diana.
This pair might be a surprise coming from a Spring/Summer 2018 collection, but anybody who's heading for a vacation to the Alpines anytime soon will be thankful to have a different kind of winter gear to pack. The Sara boots will make a bold statement on any off-duty outfit with its circular cone heel and uncanny resemblance to a comfy down jacket. And let's not forget that V-shaped slit that runs down the shin. Who says snow boots can't be sexy?
The summer-ready Jane sandals are anything but plain. The Off-White C/O Jimmy Choo collection gives these household staples a high-fashion makeover in the form of an edgy square-toe and a de-bossed logo rubberized strap that wraps around the foot and ankle in a bold line of black, white or red. The result? A pair of shoes that are as street-chic as they come.
The collection may have been inspired by Princess Diana, but these pumps call to mind another royal figure entirely: Queen Victoria. The British monarch ushered in an era of rich decoration and aesthetic grandeur, which are clearly embodied in the Victoria heels. The shoes feature an elegant cascade of Swarovski tear-drop crystals, not unlike those that can be found dangling from an opulent chandelier of the late queen's time.
The Off-White C/O Jimmy Choo collection is now available on the Jimmy Choo website.
