Longchamp, known primarily for their bags and accessories made of leather, has announced that it will show at New York Fashion Week this year. This will be the first fashion show for the brand in its 70-year history. Previously, the brand also produced collections of ready-to-wear clothing in collaboration with designer Shane Oliver, the founder of the brand Hood By Air.

As for whether Longchamp will become a permanent fixture of the following Fashion Weeks, Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp’s artistic director, has stated that the brand will "continue to act on our intuition as we make decisions for future seasons."

Longchamp will hold its first fashion show 8 September, while details of the show's venue will be shared later.  Another show in honour of the celebration of the brand's 70th anniversary will be held at the Opéra Garnier in Paris on September 11.

About the two shows, Longchamp's Global Communications and Marketing Director, Marie-Laure Dubuisson, says, “In Paris, we will celebrate 70 years of luxury and savoir-faire, while in New York we will look ahead to the next 70 years."
