Light Up Life With The Louis Vuitton Rainbow
Virgil Abloh’s inaugural menswear collection for Louis Vuitton during Paris Fashion Week in June 2018 was an event to remember. Featuring designs of a polychromatic spectrum of colours ranging from stark all-white to neon to tie-dye, models from every continent (except Antarctica) walked across a sweeping, rainbow-hued runway, illustrating Abloh’s vision and celebration of diversity and inclusivity.
Drawing inspiration from the visual metaphors of that SS19 collection, the new Louis Vuitton Rainbow is a series of sunglasses hued in the vibrant, variegated shades of the rainbow. The collection comes in two styles, the square and the pilot, both of which are interpretations of classic eyewear shapes. Each pair of sunglasses showcases a main colour that fades out subtly from the temple into a different tone – red becomes orange, orange becomes yellow, yellow becomes green, blue becomes violet. The collection also includes black, beige, and transparent iterations for those who prefer more muted tints.
