Kim Jones's Debut Campaign for Dior is Finally Here
In a dichotomy of soft and sharp, light and dark, Dior Men's Summer 2019 collection sparked industry-wide buzz as Kim Jones daringly blurred the lines between haute couture and sportswear. From the bee to the toile de jouy, Christian Dior's iconic motifs have been freely and respectfully reinvigorated into new emblems for the maison.
Today, the Dior Men's Summer 2019 campaign has been released. With photography by Steven Meisel and film by Jackie Nickerson, it seems all hands are on deck to ensure that the multi-media advertisement accurately captures the essence of the collection. Of course, at the center of it all is New York artist Kaws' instantly iconic BFF character whose bright pink presence was also the centerpiece of the runway show.
"I wanted it to reflect the spirit of the summer show and the beauty of Dior" confirms Jones, his signature mastery of subtle re-appropriation shining through each of the designs as well as the campaign itself.
This campaign marks Kim Jones' debut as artistic director for Dior Menswear, and the beginning of a new neo-romantic era for the Dior Man.
