As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, Kate Spade New York has been on a year-long road trip across the States. For Fall/Winter 2018, the brand went country, cowboy boots and all, with a collection that captured the spirit of Nashville.
We got a chance to see the collection up close at a special regional presentation at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre, amidst the likes of celebrities Shir Chong, Jane Teoh, Chelsia Ng and twins Hayley and Jayley Woo.
Below, we list the highlights of the collection:
Nothing screams “Southern belle” more than a ruffled, high-neck prairie dress, which is why there were plenty of them to be found in the collection. To appeal to the city girl, Kate Spade gave the rural fashion staple a modern look by pairing it with turtlenecks and crisp white blouses.
There were jeans, shirts and even a tweed ensemble made of the fabric. Some of these featured floral embroidery, giving them that feminine touch signature to Kate Spade.
Given the theme of the collection, the cow-print that appeared on a coat was pretty much expected. The illustrated pattern of stallions, however, was not, and it made for a surprisingly refined decoration on a handful of sweaters and dresses.
No cowgirl attire is complete without boots. Kate Spade had variations of the shoes on view: some pairs were embroidered with floral stitching, while others exuded Dolly Parton glamour with their sparkling studs.
Kate Spade’s very first (and by far its most iconic) handbag has been reintroduced in a range of new styles to mark the brand’s 25th anniversary. Besides its original shape, the Sam bag now comes in an array of sizes (mini, small and mega), new textures like snakeskin and shearling, and even features a modern ring handle.
