Jason Wu Kicks Off New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2021
After a long period of global social isolation and countless difficulties in holding events, we were able to see one of the biggest names in the international calendar make his return to the fashion world – albeit with few guests and maintaining safety rules. Combining his two true loves, fashion and food, Taiwanese-Canadian stylist Jason Wu presented his Fall/Winter 2021 collection at New York Fashion Week.
Wu's collection was a scene of pure nostalgia, presented at the scene of a small market named "Mr. Wu's General Store". The invitation to the event? A fully personalised bottle of Coca Cola.
The scene came to life with the help of fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables – which will be donated to City Harvest, an institution in New York for those in need – and was staged in a real old warehouse.
Wu's selected boasted a selection of knitted blouses, tailored pants, colourful prints, light fabrics contrasted with other fuller ones, as well as heavy coats and jackets. The colour palette appeared in its most democratic form, ranging from black and neutral hues – with hints of colour in the form of vibrant red knitwear and eccentric gold boots.
