Exclusive: ITZY on CHARLES & KEITH's ITZ MINE Collection, 'CHECKMATE' and More
In an exclusive interview with L'Officiel Singapore, K-pop girl group ITZY share what they love about their latest CHARLES & KEITH collaboration: ITZ MINE.
When it comes to fashion, K-pop girl group ITZY know best. Recognised for their own unique personal style, the group has now partnered with CHARLES & KEITH to create the brand's latest Fall/Winter 2022 capsule collection – titled 'ITZ MINE'.
Comprising bright and bold pieces that are representative of what's trending in fashion today, expect to find preppy-chic Rainier styles, sweet crescent-shaped mini bags, and chunky penny loafers in happy shades of cobalt, green, dark moss, pastel pink, and even a statement cow print.
"We're so excited to present our first ever collection, inspired by vibrant connections between us and our fans," says ITZY. "We hope that everyone will love it as much as we do!"
Below, we talk to ITZY about the collection, the creative process behind their comeback album CHECKMATE, and what fans can expect of the group in the months to come.
What is your favourite design from CHARLES & KEITH's Fall/Winter 2022 collection and how would you personally style it?
Yuna: I liked the design of the loafers. I think I'll match it with half stockings or socks and style it in a cute way!
With the many options available in the industry, why do you think this collection will resonate with fashion aficionados?
Yeji: The colours of the new Fall/Winter items are more special! I think the mood from colours can express this Fall better.
Lia: I think this Fall/Winter collection feels luxurious and the colours go really well with Autumn and Winter! If anyone holds a bag of any of these colours, it makes you think that they have a good sense of fashion and cares about it. And the chunky and soft curved designs give off a warm and elegant charming vibe in Autumn and Winter!
The ITZ MINE collection will be released soon. Tell us about the design and concept of the campaign.
ITZY: We wanted to create something that we know our fans will love. As we love experimenting with colours and having fun with fashion (through our on-stage outfits and personal styles), we wanted to release something colourful and representative of our energies. The bright colours of the Rainier Chunky Platform Loafer and Gabine Belted Hobo bag are a reflection of the vibrant and powerful connection between us, our fans, and our unique identities.
You just released your comeback album CHECKMATE. How did it feel to put out and perform new music again?
Yeji: When we performed on stage, it cheered us up a lot; we were able to finish our promotion well thanks to MIDZY! I feel happy that a lot of people are loving this album, not only at music shows but also at other events.
Ryujin: I was so proud and had a lot of fun. It's been a while since I heard the cheers, and I think it was more fun thinking that they were all cheering for us.
How was the process of making CHECKMATE?
Lia: It felt like everyone was working hard to capture only the best of the best. Everyone worked really hard on this album!
Ryujin: It's an album that we had a lot of thoughts about. I think we showed you guys the song that we worked extra hard on as the title, but there were many other songs in the album that we considered as the title song. They were just all great songs.
What's next for ITZY?
Ryujin: Well, I think we'll be back with a new and confident look!
Chaeryeong: ITZY's next? We don't know! I don't know how much we can grow or what we'll look like next year. Do my best in the present and always live with a positive mind! If we do that, I believe great new opportunities will come!
Yuna: I can't imagine what ITZY will be like next. I think I'm just looking forward to seeing ITZY going forward!
