Gucci x The North Face's second collection drop takes us straight back to the 90s
Gucci and The North Face presents us with a fresh, trendy collection that serves up some serious old-school vibes. We round up the trends we spotted in the drop.
Logomania
Monogram prints have been making a major comeback this season. Drawing on this, the collection presents a variety of 90s clothing trends such as the bucket hat, surf shorts, puffer bomber jacket, canvas backpack, fanny pack, overalls and cargo pant inspired joggers with front pockets. All featuring the iconic, interlocking Gucci GG monogram. Accented with red and black, the designs also include a stylish black and white print for a more contemporary aesthetic.
Cross Colours
Cross colours or colour blocking was another major trend back in the 90s. Back in the day, it featured mostly primary colours combined on jackets, windbreakers and track pants. This collection updates the trend using more contemporary duo-colour schemes that will blend easily into your outdoor or daily wardrobe. The colours have also been amped up to include popping, bright neon shades that were characteristic of both 80s and 90s fashion.
Grandpa Knits
The 90's grandpa sweater gets a revamp in on-trend earth tones punctuated with contemporary shades of blue and a vibrant, eye-catching mustard. These cosy, oversized, woollen knits are perfect for chilling out in or exploring the outdoors on chilly days. Featuring a vintage zig-zag print as well as a fun, forest-themed, mixed print motif, these are sure to add a dash of 90s nostalgia to your outfit.
Bomber jackets
The bomber jacket was a 90's wardrobe staple and for this collection, Gucci and The North Face have given it a serious facelift with a quirky, multicolour floral-monogram mix print and a sportier, duo-colour design that plays into the current athleisure trend. Despite the refresh, these still feel totally 90s. The lightweight, nylon fabric is ideal for outdoor activities and the unique prints and colour mixes provide you with endless options for self-expression.
