Gucci's 2020 Gift Giving Campaign Is An Ode To The Office Holiday Party

But not as you know it

Love it or dread it, the end-of-year office party is a veritable institution of the holiday season — at least, until the coronavirus pandemic tossed a spanner in this year’s festivities. Luckily for us, though, Gucci is around to fill that socially-distanced void, courtesy of its latest Gift Giving campaign.

Partying like it’s 1994, the Italian house channels the vintage vibes of Christmas celebrations from decades past (complete with sparkly tinsel, colourful confetti, paper snowflakes and a karaoke machine), imagining a cast of corporate characters who morph into merrymakers when the clock strikes five and the after-hours revelry kicks off. Clad head-to-toe in the retro-kitsch ensembles from the label’s Epilogue collection, these chic co-workers let loose on the makeshift dance floor, sing along to a Yazoo soundtrack, and of course, exchange Gucci-fied goodies.

Loosely divided according to two seasonal themes — cheerful red-and-green houndstooth checks woven in wool jacquard and sparkling sequins in a rainbow of gold, silver and pastel hues — the 2020 Gucci Gift Giving collection encompasses cosy oversized knits and party-ready pieces like fluid midi dresses, two-piece skirt sets and sharp tailoring, as well as a number of emblematic extras made even more arresting, such as the classic GG Marmont shoulder and bucket bags, the East/West top-handle tote and the Tennis 1977 sneaker. The Gift Giving series also includes an eclectic array of accessories buoyantly bedecked in a similar style, from fringed scarves and ponchos to baseball caps and bucket hats to slide sandals and genderless mules.

Offering full immersion in the festive Gucciverse, the luxury house is rolling out a new Gucci Arcade game on the Gucci App as an accompaniment to the campaign, inspired by the fan-favourite Conga Master, along with 3D virtual experiences across multiple platforms for you to enjoy. Oh, and on top of all that, Gucci is introducing environmentally-conscious packaging that is made entirely from sustainably-sourced paper products, recycled polyester and regenerated or organic cotton, so you can do your holiday shopping with peace of mind. What’s not to love about this party?
