A Closer Look at Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2018 Bags
Between the baby dragon and the clone heads that came down the runway at Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2018 show, it would have been easy to miss the other accessories that were cradled in the models’ arms. A trip to Gucci's recently refurbished Paragon boutique would show you that the collection comes with bags aplenty, ranging from vintage-inspired pieces to futuristic offerings in metallic finishes.
As we all know by now, Gucci is a master of details. That’s why we’ve dissected the features of our favourite bags by the Italian brand for this season below.
Alessandro Michele is known for infusing references of the past in his designs, and he made no exceptions for these bags. The first thing you’ll notice is the crystal-embellished, gold metal tiger head, which was inspired by a vintage brooch by the legendary fashion and jewellery designer, Hattie Carnegie.
We’re no strangers to Gucci’s tiger motifs by now, but this iteration is an especially classy touch that elevates the otherwise casual leather-trimmed Rajah tote to a statement of elegance. On the Rajah shoulder bag, however, another detail stands out: the interlocking-G-with-horsebits hardware. Staying true to Gucci’s vision of unconventionality, the detail is crafted with both gold and silver.
The interlocking-G hardware is also the centrepiece of a range of matelassé leather mini bags that remind us of another thing that Alessandro Michele loves — colour, brilliant and pure. In true Gucci fashion, each bag features the clash of two distinctive hues, shining with a metallic sheen. You’ll find even more colours on the strap, which is made of three leather strips braided together. And fret not: you can easily adjust the strap by tying knots into it, effortlessly switching the crossbody bag to a shoulder version. Our verdict? This will make the perfect companion for fun dates out.

The multi-textured Flashtrek sneakers are without a doubt the shoes that stand out the most in the collection. An eclectic hybrid between a chunky-soled sneaker and a trekking boot, the shoe features a patch of the Gucci logo in the iconic SEGA font. The best part? It also comes in black.
But what is a cyborg-themed collection without a hint of something more futuristic? That’s where this squared camera bag comes in. With its silver leather exterior, the bag can easily be mistaken for a souvenir from outer space — if not for Gucci’s signature red and green Web stripe, or the double G logo at the top.

Gucci’s beloved Princetown loafer meets its match in the Sylvie leather pumps, which we’re equally crazy about. Putting a fresh spin on its classic shape, Gucci added the gold metal chain that we’ve seen on its handbags across the iconic Sylvie Web stripe on the front of the shoe.
The gold-toned logo also graces these two Ophidia shoulder bags. An updated version of the one found on Gucci’s iconic belts from the ‘70s, the logo serves two different functions.
On the dome-shaped version, it acts as a nifty zipper pull as well; on the chain strap bag, it sits atop a red leather-trimmed magnetic closure. Still, it’s pretty hard for us to say which of the two we like better when both of them are crafted in ultra-soft suede.

You’ll definitely make a statement with these glossy leather high-heel slides, which feature an homage to the equestrian world in the form of the classic Horsebit detail, as well a chunky heel straight out of the ‘70s.
But if you asked us for our evening bag of choice? That's easy. Just check out this line of shoulder bags.
Where do we start? The bags are exquisite inside and out, boasting a velvet exterior and a satin lining. And then there’s that square G buckle, sparkling with crystals that we can’t take our eyes away from.
What we love most is that you can easily take this bag with you to a fancy dinner date and then go partying at a swanky nightclub with it after. Bonus: you’ll need no help standing out from everyone else with the pink version.

Whether you’re into baseball or not, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on these Original GG canvas slippers that come embroidered with a New York Yankees™ patch thanks to Gucci’s collaboration with the Major League Basketball.
