A Fashion Breakdown of BTS Jin’s ‘Running Wild’ Music Video
The K-Pop powerhouse just released a cool new pop rock track with some stylish fashion choices.
Whether you’re an ARMY or not, there’s no denying that BTS is still on top of their game. Though the group has yet to reunite and release new music together for a couple more years, the members who have been discharged from the military, namely Jin and J-Hope, have been working hard on their solo careers.
Jin, in particular, has had a non-stop schedule since his return to the public eye. From flying to Milan Fashion Week for Gucci to being LANEIGE’s newest global ambassador, the eldest of the septet has kept himself busy and spoiling millions of fans with content. Just yesterday, the K-Pop superstar dropped the much-awaited main track of his album “Happy”.
Entitled “Running Wild”, the song speaks of a great love that has gone stale and Jin yearning to go back to that burning romance. Though the upbeat pop-rock track can be interpreted in many ways — some say it’s a love letter to the group’s loyal fanbase as BTS enters their post-military era — the song’s music video just adds to the mystery behind the song’s meaning.
Jin is seen traversing an apocalyptic world with his bestfriend, a brown dog, as the pair drive through falling meteors and even enjoy a meal together. But despite the oddly dark concept of the video, the 31-year-old’s fashion was on point. Here we “run” through all his looks that prove he’s got leading man style.
Utilitarian Prep
Sporting a neo-corporate look with a necktie, a utilitarian jacket with fun button pins, and ruggedly loose denim jeans, Jin’s first look in the MV is undeniably the strongest fashion statement from the video. The outfit fits the star’s laidback and quite boyish personality, which is put perfectly on display visually as well.
Beach Boy
Jin has repeatedly expressed that he’s quite the conservative guy, so it’s no surprise that he went with a long-sleeved striped shirt for his seaside sequences. But that didn’t stop his stylist for putting him in short shorts — which is one of the biggest menswear trends as of late.
Sweater Weather
What’s a K-Pop music video without a cozy sweater look? Luckily, Jin serves up two. One of them is this collegiate and preppy outfit that screams good-boy-next-door effortlessly.
Nice in Neutrals
This palette cleanser ensemble marks Jin’s “in limbo” look. A breather for his more casual and textured outfits, this white knit top and khaki trousers combination grounds the fashion story of the entire MV and provides a much-needed breather from the trendier styles he’s seen in.
