Every Look From Sabato de Sarno's First Cruise 2025 Show for Gucci
Held at the iconic Tate Modern, de Sarno paidf a tribute to London in his first Cruise collection for the Italian maison.
Gucci, an iconic Italian brand, has a rich connection to London dating back to 1897. That year, Guccio Gucci, the brand's founder, worked as a porter at The Savoy Hotel. Inspired by the city's culture, he returned to Florence and opened a travel goods store, aiming to promote a new lifestyle through his luggage products. In a nod to its historical ties, Gucci showcased its Cruise 2025 collection in London at the prestigious Tate Modern Museum.
True to tradition, Gucci's fashion show attracted numerous celebrities and fashion luminaries. Among the front-row guests was Nicholas Tse, who sported a stylish yet casual ensemble featuring a grey zippered hoodie, trousers, loafers, sunglasses, and a metal necklace. Other notable attendees included Dua Lipa, Lee Know from Stray Kids, Park Kyu-young, Kate Moss, Ohira Shuzo, and Wang Churan.
“I like to break the established rules and explore the possibilities of ordinary things. I like to be imaginative and not distort the essence of things. I juxtapose them with their opposing elements and seek a harmonious result.” - Sabato De Sarno
Gucci's Creative Director, Sabato De Sarno, emphasized his affinity for exploring contrasts. His collection for the show highlighted the juxtaposition and harmony of London’s cultural essence. The pieces balanced British precision and flamboyance with Italian flair, blending tailored suits with workwear and transforming classic elements like spring buckles into soft pearl necklaces. De Sarno reimagined traditional British plaids and suits by integrating them with signature Gucci elements.
The collection also paid meticulous attention to detail, with embroidery taking center stage. The intricate floral patterns showcased exquisite craftsmanship, while tassels and petals adorned the relaxed silhouettes, creating a sense of unity within contrast. A romantic touch was added with lozenge patterns made of georgette and beaded tassels that enhanced the crisscrossing lines, making them more vivid and captivating.
