Easy Touch: Local Model Vivien Ong Radiates Subtle '70s Power In Saint Laurent Fall 2020
The bohemian spirit of the 1970s is a wellspring of inspiration for Saint Laurent, and this season, Anthony Vaccarello looks to actress, activist and icon of the era Jane Fonda as the muse for his Fall 2020 collection.
Carrying echoes of Fonda’s Oscar-winning turn as Bree Daniels in the 1971 feminist thriller Klute, as well as Yves Saint Laurent’s controversial Libération collection, Fall 2020’s line-up brims with a sense of relaxed insouciance and quiet power — double-breasted jackets shrugged over luxe silk blouses, button-through skirts in patchwork denim or leather, day-to-night dresses cinched with gold-buckled belts, and Vaccarello’s signature short shorts paired with over-the-knee boots. Foreshadowing the vivid pinks, blues and purples of the electric Winter show, the palette for Fall blooms with warm shades of ruby, rust, ochre and emerald.
