Set inside a multimedia installation with flashing lights entitled "Valkyrie Miss Dior," a site-specific artwork created by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, Dior staged a tribute to the courageous sister of the founding couturier, Catherine Dior,  who was both the first "Miss Dior" and the starting point for the new Dior Fall/Winter 2023 collection. On the show, Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri brings simple looks to the catwalk composed of black suits proudly worn with leather gloves, refined houndstooth suits, and more boyish structured looks with tailored trousers, a white shirt, and a black tie.
Focusing on the French style, the creative director explains in a press release that this time she has let herself be guided by three extraordinary figures who have subverted female stereotypes:  Catherine Dior,  Édith Piaf,  and Juliette Gréco. Monsieur Christian Dior's sister  did it by starting to grow and sell flowers as a message of hope in the post-war period while for Edith Piaf and Juliette Gréco, it was through their voices and their supreme stage presence.
