Cover Story: Thai Actor Blue Pongtiwat Stays True to Romance

Four years ago, playing the role of Bella Ranee Campen’s son in Krong Karm gave Thai actor Blue Pongtiwat his first major thrust into the spotlight. He went on to host 2022’s Food Truck Battle 2, a variety show that brought together Thailand’s and South Korea’s rising idols and actors — including Ten and Yangyang from WayV/NCT — for a cooking competition. Pongtiwat currently plays the male lead in Intern in My Heart, as well as Netflix’s Ready, Set, Love, and has truly established himself as a fashion industry darling — last September, the ascending actor was a guest at Coach’s Spring/Summer 2024 show before jetting off to view Tod’s collection from the front row in Milan.

That same month, the 23-year-old star was handpicked by Swarovski Thailand to attend the brand’s Masters of Light exhibition, which showcased the brand’s heritage including crystal-embellished couture pieces from Dior, Gucci and Louis Vuitton, in Shanghai at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Pongtiwat went on to grace the opening of Swarovski’s largest flagship store, on Fifth Avenue in New York City, representing Southeast Asia. Following this burgeoning relationship between the brand and the actor, he has just been named the first male Friend of Swarovski from Thailand.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with Swarovski for many major brand moments and celebrations. Being chosen as the Friend of Swarovski for Thailand is an honour and a privilege. I want everyone to wait and see what we have in store. It is sure to be another exciting and sparkling year for both Swarovski and myself,” says Pongtiwat.

L'OFFICIEL Singapore: Hi Blue! February is about celebrating love. What is love to you?

Blue: Personally, family is my definition of love. No matter what happens, they are and will always be with me through my peaks and valleys, giving me full support, cheering me up, and congratulating me on every success. Unconditional love is my perception of family.

What is your idea of the perfect gift for your loved ones?

The gift that I would like to give to my special and loved one is time. I am working most of the time, and my schedule can be quite random. Therefore, when I have time, I would like to spend it with my family. Time is the best gift in my opinion.

What is your idea of a romantic gesture?

I do have an idea. The romantic idea of mine is to observe every detail, even little or obvious, of my loved ones. This is so that I can surprise them with what they like on their special day. This sounds romantic to me. Because love is not only about saying that you love someone but expressing it with your actions that come from the bottom of your heart.

You have worked with Swarovski for a while now. What is the most memorable experience for you thus far?

All of them are memorable experiences. My favourite one is when I had a chance to participate in the Swarovski exhibition in Shanghai. There were a variety of customised costumes embellished with Swarovski crystals, and they were stunningly beautiful. I would say that was a wow moment for me.
