Céline Has a New Logo

Say goodbye to the acute accent.

Another day, another peek at what Hedi Slimane has in store at Céline — or, according to the brand's newly redesigned logo, just "CELINE". Unveiled on Instagram yesterday, the new Céline logo takes stylistic cues from an archival logo that was used by the fashion house in the 1960s, as well as the modernist typography of the 1930s.

More distinctively, the spacing between the letters have been evened out and made smaller, making for a more compact logo. The accent on the "e" which nodded to Céline's French heritage has also been removed. As a substitute, you will now find the word "Paris" across Céline's new packaging, including boxes, bags and labels.

And if the logo change isn't enough to drive home the fact that Phoebe Philo's Céline is now truly a thing of the past, check out Céline's Instagram. Wiping the slate clean (literally), the brand's Instagram page now contains only three posts, all featuring the new logo.

The previously low-key Céline will also be upping its social media game with a new Facebook and Youtube page. Plus, you can expect a revamped Céline website come 28 September, after Hedi Slimane's first show for the brand at Paris Fashion Week.

Watch this space to see how Slimane's vision for the beloved French label takes shape on the runway later this month.
