Watch: Calvin Klein, Raf Simons and The xx
Even in Singapore, there has always a longstanding connection between fashion and music, with various local bands and artistes being dressed by some of the top luxury brands around.
Just this week, Calvin Klein, Inc. announced a collaboration between the brand’s Chief Creative Office and English indie band The xx – Jamie Smith, Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim – on the band’s latest song.
Titled “I Dare You”, photographer and filmmaker Alasdair McLellan worked his magic on the creative concept and direction, giving the music video a lo-fi, back-to-basics aesthetic. McLellan’s earlier work with the The xx fits right in with Simons’ work at Calvin Klein, making this partnership possible.
The music video was filmed in Los Angles and utilised an eclectic cast of Calvin Klein collaborators. It opens with actress Millie Bobby Brown, who currently appears in the Calvin Klein By Appointment campaign, and also features Ashton Sanders, currently featured in the men’s Spring 2017 Calvin Klein Underwear advertising campaign; Paris Jackson, who attended this year’s Costume Institute Benefit as a guest of the brand; and models Lulu and Ernesto Cervantes, who each appear in advertising campaigns for the brand as well as the Fall 2017 CALVIN KLEIN 205W39NYC runway show.
