Bodysuits and built-in heels: Inside Kim Kardashian's brow-raising new look
Kim Kardashian seems to have taken a liking to a rather unique new look. Here, we recap her latest style evolution.
Possibly the most outstanding feature of Kim Kardashian's new look was her literal head-to-toe ensemble at the 2021 Met Gala. Whether you loved it (or found it gimp-like), the bold Balenciaga gown was a statement piece that turned heads and made headlines. The look was completed with a black train and matching mask that obscured her face and shrouded her famous physique.
This was a very different look for the Kardashian, and certainly, a departure from her favoured cinched cocktail dresses, but it wasn't the first time she was spotted in such a look. For Halloween last year, she posted a picture of herself in a head-to-toe bubblegum pink ensemble that featured a spandex full-body catsuit with a draped, toga style dress, built-in heels and face mask.
In recent months, Kim has been spotted in similar looks, all featuring a sleek, catsuit silhouette — along with pointed heels built-in.
After her first Saturday Night Live, she was photographed wearing a bubblegum pink spandex catsuit paired with a shaggy, floor-length coat and large crystal earrings. The look had a slight '70s, disco-Barbie feel to it, proving that even Kim K can't stay keep away from the vintage trends making a comeback.
Kim seems rather fond of the built-in heel pant, as she was spotted wearing them again — this time, in a Fuschia ensemble. She paired a pointed, wide-shouldered, crushed velvet oversized blazer with satin pants that had — surprise — built-in boot heels. The look gave off some serious '80s rockstar vibes as she accessorised with dark sunglasses, distorted silver hoop earrings and a glittery silver mini bag.
Continuing her chain of minimalist looks, Kim again opted for a black, strapless gown to attend Paris Hilton's wedding. The Balenciaga gown had an almost Grecian style feel to it with draping and ruching. She completed the monochromatic look with black hoop earrings and black boots in the same, pointed-toe style as her Met Gala outfit.
Kim wore head-to-toe black once again at the People's Choice Awards 2021. This monochromatic look featured a fitted, lace-embellished, full bodysuit that covered everything right down to her fingers.
In true Kim Kardashian fashion, she glammed up the look with a uniquely shaped pair of black shield sunglasses and metallic silver dangle earrings for a little sparkle. It seemed to work out for her, as she clinched the Fashion Icon and Best Reality TV Show Awards.
In an at-home photoshoot, Kim wore a stunning black sequin gown from look 5 of Balenciaga's Spring/Summer 2022 collection. Accessorised with sleek black sunglasses, pointed boots, spandex leggings, an oversized ring and metallic silver earrings, the ultra-glam post, smokey-eyes and all.
In possibly her boldest look so far, she wore a black leather, cinched waist trenchcoat with a bodysuit that was zipped up to cover her face. Paired with pointed stiletto boots, matching pants and gloves.
This is not the first time Kim has donned an almost fetish-like look. In a launch event for Kanye West's Donda, Kim was again seen zipped into a skintight bodysuit, complete with a mask and what seems to be becoming a signature ponytail braid.
In late October this year, Kim was again spotted in the full bodysuit with attached heels. This time in a shiny, royal purple. She paired this with a dark grape coloured leather-look jacket and dark sunglasses. Her hair was done up in the ponytail braid and she kept her makeup simple with a nude lip.
Kim shared the news of her passing her bar exam with another bodysuit-clad picture. This time, featuring a vivid, royal blue. The look had a similar draped silhouette to the outfit she wore to Paris Hilton's wedding and had a cut-out back, train and a plunging neckline. She accessorised the outfit with large, silver earrings and dark sunglasses. In the last picture of the set, Kim is, again, seen carrying a sparkly silver mini bag. With her hair slicked into a tight bun, Kim kept her make-up minimal with a nude lip and dramatic top lashes, letting her bold new look speak for itself.
