BFF At First Sight: Tommy Dorfman And Naomi Watanabe Bond Over Fendi's Baguette
The fact that Tommy Dorfman and Kaia Gerber are close is common knowledge to anyone on social media, but the actor’s latest headline-grabbing friendship might come as a surprise. Newsflash: Dorfman and Naomi Watanabe are now BFFs. That is to say, #BaguetteFriendsForever. The duo are the stars of Fendi’s recently released short film, the newest episode in the aforementioned campaign series, which the Italian house launched last year to mark the return of the iconic Baguette.
The It-bag that started it all, the Baguette was a veritable style staple of the noughties, thanks in no small part to its leading role as Carrie Bradshaw’s handbag of choice in Sex and the City. Instantly recognisable for its elongated, slender shape and distinctive double-F buckle, the Baguette was resurrected for Spring 2019, and has stayed in the limelight since, to the delight of die-hards the world over.
Centred on friendship and the notion of finding common ground in spite of differences, the humorous film begins with a side-by-side narration of the two stars’ almost identical morning routines as they get ready for the brand’s Spring/Summer 2020 show in Milan – dressed head-to-toe in Fendi, naturally. Seatmates in the front row, Dorfman and Watanabe meet for the first time, and quickly bond over their shared love for the iconic bag, delivering that now-legendary line in near unison: “This is not a bag, it’s a Baguette!”
