The Best Fashion Moments at This Year's VMAs
We round up the chicest showstopping looks at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
Each and every red carpet is akin to a mini debut for celebrities. They get to don a new look, with the best teams piecing the moving parts together, and strut their stuff for the most glamorous events. And with each red carpet we’ve seen lately, the stars have been stepping it up, adding more drama to their looks. As seen on the runways of the leading luxury Maisons, intricacy and elaborate craftsmanship are in, and at this year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), our beloved stars show us exactly how it’s done.
Below, we’ve gathered some of the best-dressed celebrities on the red carpet at the MTV VMAs 2022.
Måneskin
The four-piece Italian band had jaws dropping with their full Gucci outfits. With a beautiful balance of textures, silver hardware and sparkle, Måneskin’s ensembles at the VMAs perfectly matched their glam-rock persona, where they also took home the award for Best Alternative Video.
Blackpink
Fresh from their 'Pink Venom' MV drop, Blackpink stunned us once again with their appearance at the VMAs. Each repping their signature luxury house, Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé wore Celine, Chanel, Dior and Saint Laurent respectively. The foursome definitely served us classy looks with an edge, with each member embodying distinct traits representative of their favourite Maisons.
Taylor Swift
Before she surprised us with the announcement of her next album, Taylor already had all eyes on her. Her red carpet look was a waterfall of crystals, draped over her figure in all the right places. The beloved singer paired the glamorous outfit with her signature red lip and sparkly gemstones on her eyes.
Anitta
There is a shade of red for every woman, and Anitta sure has hers down pat. Her fiery red carpet look was eye-catching, textural and intricate. The corset and wiring details create a delicate balance between contemporary and historical elements. Blinged out in Tiffany & Co. earrings, the singer sparkled on stage and made history as the first Brazilian to earn herself a VMA, under the Best Latin category.
Chloe Flower
We asked for drama, and she delivered. Chloe wore an off-shoulder, polka-dotted dress with over-the-top puff sleeves. Talk about making a statement! The classical musician blew us away with her bold choices for the night, including her metallic green and purple eyeshadow, and cream platform sandals that tied her whole look together.
Lili Reinhart
The Riverdale actress sported a sheer lace dress from Fendi, with an embroidered lip motif enveloping the full-black look. The deep keyhole cutout detail added a touch of character to the goth-inspired look. We loved the balance of her understated glam with the intricate gown – simple and effortless.
Danny Ramirez
Danny Ramirez devised a different type of monochromatic look for his VMA moment. In a deep ox blood set from Saint Laurent, the Look Both Ways actor won us over with a glossy latex coat worn over matching maroon velvet pants and a knitted top.
Lizzo
Sweeping us off our feet was Lizzo. Her dramatic navy blue dress was the ultimate fashion moment on the VMA red carpet. We live for the little details, and the singer’s matching sheer gloves proved to be the cherry on top of this look, somehow toeing the line between extravagance and subtlety. And did we mention the lipstick? The lip ring on a navy base was just stunning.
J Balvin
Dressed in Louis Vuitton, J Balvin keeps it sleek in a tailored white suit. We love the angular, structured details on the jacket, and his bright tiger-print buzz cut is the perfect topper (pun intended!) for this crisp white look.
That Girl Lay Lay
The youngest fashion feature in this list: That Girl Lay Lay. The 15-year-old rapper who has her own show on Nickelodeon posed for the cameras in full Dior. She went for a cropped Oblique jacket with matching pillowy shorts and combat boots. The lace tie-ups around her calves made for the cutest addition to her first-ever VMA red carpet look.
Lil Nas X
Wherever he goes, he steals the show. Bringing a Met-Gala level glam to the VMAs, Lil Nas X’s furry, feathery hooped-skirt and headpiece combo was a look to remember. But the Old Town Road singer’s striking fit wasn’t his only head-turning moment of the night, he won the award for Best Collaboration with Jack Harlow.
Colton Haynes
The Teen Wolf actor let simplicity shine in a full Dior suit. The light mint green suit was a minimalistic choice that stood out on the red carpet. Colton also chose to pair his suit with platform boots that added a devil-may-care attitude to the look.
