The Outfit Ideas Worth Stealing From Your Favourite Pop Stars
Come Out And Play
Billie Eilish swept this year’s Grammy Awards with a history-making five wins, but her music isn’t the only thing that’s got people talking. The 18-year-old artist is also a fashion force to be reckoned with. Upending stereotypes of the sugar-coated pop princess, the superstar proves that streetwear isn’t just for boys, and that comfortable clothes can have plenty of swag. Eilish defies easy categorisation, but her style trademarks include oversized coordinates splashed in neon hues, mixed prints, and designer logos, matched with chunky sneakers, stacked silver jewellery, out-there eyewear, the occasional face mask, and an unshakeable sense of self-assurance.
Ugly Pretty
No one rocks the androgynous look quite like Héloïse Letissier, aka Christine and the Queens, aka Chris. Openly pansexual, the gender-bending artist stands out like a beacon in an industry of manufactured pop clones. Most often clad in some kind of suit, which she started doing to deflect the male gaze, Letissier takes the classic ensemble to a whole other level. Part Ziggy Stardust, part Annie Hall, part Patti Smith, and yet wholly Chris, the singer blurs the lines between masculine seduction and powerful femininity in a way that is irresistibly magnetic.
Better In Colour
If you’re not already on board the Lizzo train, you might want to take a seat, because this is one ride that’s not slowing down. Lizzo is currently ruling the cultural zeitgeist, thanks to her incredibly catchy tunes, no-BS attitude, and unabashed body positivity. Plus how she always slays the fashion game. Whether she’s wearing a frilly dress with a nano bag, a chocolate wrapper-inspired outfit (with chocolate-scented nails), a tuxedo with a see-through back, or a sheer, fringed, and sparkly gown, Lizzo doesn’t play by the rules, which makes her that much more of a queen.
Hotter Than Hell
Her upcoming album is titled Future Nostalgia, which should be a big hint as to where Dua Lipa gets her inspiration. And like a true child of the ’90s, the “Physical” singer knows that the decade totally ruled, be it life-, music-, or fashion-wise. A quick scroll through her Instagram feed would give any millennial major throwback vibes. From crop tops and chokers to bodycon and bucket hats to mini dresses and miniskirts, it seems Dua has done them all, and done them better.
