Dior Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri and the Maison debuted the new Pre-Fall 2023 collection in Mumbai, India for the first time ever, and, as anticipated, it was an exquisitely crafted line. Grazia Chiuri has kept a long-time relationship with the country, as well as the Chanakya School of Craft where the textiles and artwork for the show were created, making the collection that much more special.

It is said that this year's collection is an ode to Indian savoir-faire or expert craftsmanship, which is quite fitting given the fact that each design is infused with a notable prowess. The show took place in one of the most historic landmarks of Mumbai known as the Gateway of India, which served as an entry point to the country decades before.

Inspired by traditional Indian garments, the collection incorporated long silk skirts inspired by the sari, flowy trousers, and elegant evening wear. To our surprise, there was a captivating pattern we haven't seen on the runway for quite some time: tie-dye. The colour palette of the collection ranged from bright greens and yellows to deep pinks and purples, which was a tribute to Marc Bohan, the French designer who took Dior under his wing for nearly 30 years.
