It's been 16 years since the final season of Sex and the City aired and left a permanent hole in our hearts. But in the midst of this unprecedented year, fans of fashion-filled, women-led dramedies can now rejoice, because it seems that Carrie Bradshaw et al. finally have a worthy successor — the upcoming Netflix series Emily in Paris.

The newest project from SATC creator Darren Star (he also gave us Beverly Hills 90210 and Younger), the show stars Lily Collins as the titular character, an upbeat and ambitious 20-something executive who leaves Chicago for the City of Lights to chase an incredible opportunity at a large marketing firm in Paris, where she is tasked with providing an "American point of view".

As you might expect, that POV doesn't go down spectacularly well, and Emily soon finds herself grappling with various challenges, from overcoming the culture shock to winning over her colleagues to navigating new romances. Of course, all this takes place as our leading lady roams about Paris dressed head-to-toe in seriously envy-inducing outfits, thanks to costume designer Patricia Field — she of The Devil Wears Prada and Sex and the City fame.

Lily Collins is joined by a star-studded international cast that includes Ashley Park (Mean Girls on Broadway), Kate Walsh (Grey's Anatomy), Philippine Leroy Beaulieu (Call My Agent!), Lucas Bravo (Smart Ass), Samuel Arnold (Antony & Cleopatra), Camille Razat (The Disappearance) and more.

Filmed entirely in Paris prior to the pandemic, the 10 30-minute episodes of Emily in Paris are slated to premiere on Netflix on October 2, so you don't have long to wait for your next binge-watch. Watch the trailer below:
