Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have donated part of their fortunes towards social actions and relevant causes since the beginning of the global pandemic. The couple's newest initiative is a contribution of 200 thousand dollars, something around 278 Singapore Dollars, to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (National Association for USA) being arrested and beaten during the protests.

On instagram, the couple published an honest account of systemic racism against the death of George Floyd - a black American man who died on May 25, 2020, after a policeman knelt on his neck for at least eight minutes.

In the post, the couple spoke openly about their white privilege and spoke up about the racist systems: "We never had to worry about preparing our children for different rules of the law or what could happen if our car is stopped. We don't know what it's like to live this life. day after day. We can barely imagine feeling that kind of fear and anger. We are ashamed that in the past we have been left uninformed about how deeply rooted systemic racism is. "

The actors continued their outburst talking about their children's education: "We are committed to raising our children so that they never grow up feeding this insane pattern and, therefore, will do their best to never inflict pain on another being consciously or unconsciously. It is the least that we can do to honor not only George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and Eric Garner, but all the black men and women who were killed when the camera was not on. "

Finally, the couple revealed that they made the donation to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, as they admired the organization and its leader, Sherdlern Ifill and said that this money is just the beginning and that they intend to use their privileges to be allies in the cause.

The death of George Floyd has sparked public outcry, with many celebrities and brands stepping up to denounce police butality and support the #BlackLivesMatter movement
