It's Official! Harry Potter Is Becoming A TV Series
The statement that fans have been waiting to hear about the long-awaited Harry Potter series was officially announced by Warner Bros.
Discovery executives at the presentation for their new project Max platform made the highly buzzed announcment that Harry Potter will be getting a TV series. The live-action series, in which each season will cover all seven books published between 1997 and 2007, will be designed as a year-long project. Max will host the Harry Potter live-action TV series, which is formerly known as HBO Max.
"Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally." - a statement from the newly branded Max.
While the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, said they would include brand new actors in the cast of this new production, JK Rowling, the author of the book series, has achieved tremendous success over the world, will sit in the producer's chair. At a time when the rumors about a new Harry Potter production have increased since 2021, JK Rowling has often come to the fore by creating sensations, especially with her comments and explanations for transgender individuals. Unfortunately, Rowling preferred to avoid the twentieth-anniversary celebrations of the Harry Potter films during this period. However, Rowling did not stay silent about this new Harry Potter adaptation and said, "Max's commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I'm looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long-form television series."
According to the announcement, each series season will remain faithful to the books and, therefore, to the original story. Therefore, many details omitted in the movies but that we consider essential in the books can be included in this series.
Since we just received the series announcement, the release date must be 2024 at the earliest. Besides, before filming the first episode, we must find the right actors to play the characters that many of us take on this magical journey through the Harry Potter universe!
All we know is that the series will have a brand new cast. The iconic trio Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who we wish would return to the universe Potter again, are honestly too old to play the child characters in the series. However, we can still hope to see them as older versions of their old characters though! On the other hand, we will never forget Snape or Minerva McGonagall in our hearts with the iconic performances of Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith. So, while it's hard to imagine any character as different from the actors we identify with them, we'll have to wait and see.
