Viewers all over the world have been enraptured by Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in's love story, played by Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won over the last couple weeks with hype coming to a crescendo over the weekend as tvN aired the finale episode to Queen of Tears. The romantic drama revolves around Hae-in, an heiress and CEO of a luxury department store who was diagnosed with brain cancer. And with a special, extended runtime of 109 minutes, everyone was tuning in with baited breath for the conclusion of the beloved Hong-Baek couple, who went through incredible odds to be together.

So much so that after the finale episode aired, the South Korean broadcasting company announced that Queen of Tears' finale achieved an impressive viewership rating of 24.85% domestically, breaking the previous record of 21.68% held by the massively successful, Crash Landing On You in 2019. A huge achievement for the cast and crew, who gave special messages of thanks on tvN's official Instagram account.

This also solidifies award-winning screenwriter, Park Ji-eun as THE hitmaker when it comes to television dramas with both Crash Landing On You and Queen of Tears in her impressive portfolio. Both shows stole the world's heart becoming a global hit with its earnest characters, diabolical villains, melodrama, comedic moments and swoonworthy scenes. With the enthusiastic reception to Queen of Tears, tvN has announced two special episodes to air on May 4 and 5 with a cast reunion, going over some of the highlights in the series and sharing a behind-the-scenes look at some of the iconic scenes that went down.
