Fans have been delighted after the recent announcement that A-list South Korean actor, Gong Yoo would be reprising his role in Squid Game 2. Now, fans will have more to celebrate as Netflix has confirmed that he will be starring in a brand new drama with Seo Hyun-jin, known for her transformative performances in Another Miss Oh and The Beauty Inside. The series is described as a mystery with the premise being a pursuit of love derailed by a mystifying trunk found at the bottom of a lake.

Gong Yoo plays Jeong-won, an introverted music producer who finds himself a second wife via a contract based marriage service arranged by his ex-wife. There he finds In-ji (played by Seo) as his potential spouse. However, their lives takes a drastic turn when a mysterious trunk found in the depths of a lake uncovers secrets behind the matchmaking service that brought the two together.

The Netflix original is written by Park Eun-young, who was the pen behind Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth and directed by Kim Gyu-tae, famed for his work in Our Blues. This will also be Gong Yoo's second lead role in a Netflix series, with his last being the sci-fi drama, The Silent Sea which stars Bae Doona. And while it is confirmed that he will be reprising his role in Squid Game 2, it's still unclear how significant his role will be, seeing as he was a cameo in the first one. Naturally, fans (like us) are excited to see more Gong Yoo. So stay tuned for more details as they come!
