A Breakdown of BLACKPINK Lisa's Stunning Looks at the 2024 VMAs
The ladies of K-pop continue to tear up the international stage with their debut VMA performances at this year's award ceremony
What a night it was at the 2024 MTV VMAs where international stars take the centre stage alongside Hollywood's biggest names! It was a particularly big night for Blackpink's Lisa who made her big VMA debut performance on the global stage. She will be sharing the stage with other headlining stars like Sabrina Carpenter, Halsey, Katy Perry, Megan Thee Stallion and many more.
For Blackpink member, Lisa, this would mark her first live performance since her big solo debut under her newly self-established label, LLOUD. 2024 has been a big year for the global star as she paves her solo career on top of her successes with top K-pop group, Blackpink under YG Entertainment. She released not one but two hit singles in a span of a few months, 'Rockstar' and 'New Woman'. The latter being a collaboration with Grammy winning Spanish singer, Rosalia. After topping charts globally and numerous TikTok dance challenges later, fans are finally treated to their first live performance of the two singles.
The Thai popstar opted for a red hit siren look for her 'Rockstar' debut with a leather, cropped corset and mini skirt adorned with studs and chains. The stage look is a custom design by Chrome Hearts, a label that fits perfectly with Lisa's rebellious 'Rockstar' aesthetic. She finished the edgy look with red leather gloves and knee high boots. Prior to her epic stage performance, Lisa had already served glamour on the VMA red carpet in a divine custon look from Mugler. The ivory hooded gown featuring a nude corset with rose gold detailing around the bustier and Bulgari Serpentine jewellery. The hood seamless merges into the flattering drapery and extends into a pair of gloved sleeves.
But the night did not end there for the Thai superstar as after her performance and slaying the red carpet, she nabbed her second MTV Moon man, accepting the award for 'Best K-pop' for "Rockstar" and beating out stiff competition from BTS' Jungkook's "Seven", NCT Dream's "Smoothie", Stray Kids' "LALALAL, NewJeans' "Super Shy" and TXT's "Deja Vu". She had previously won this category in 2022, becoming the first female soloist to do so and now she makes history again by being the first K-pop act to win the category twice. In her acceptance speech, she spoke about how meaningful the comeback was and how special the moment was for her. "Thank you RCA family and Team LLOUD and BLINKs and Lilies all around the world,” she said in a black off-shoulder sheer custom gown by Louis Vuitton. The sky is truly the limit for this pop star!
Lisa capped off the night at the VMA After Party where she was spotted rocking a custom sparkling mesh minidress from Spanish fashion label, 404 Studio and strappy platform heels. The popstar was seen partying with her bestie, Tyla who also had a big night winning an MTV VMA award for her smash hit "Water".
