After being diagnosed with COVID-19 two weeks ago in Australia, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are back in the United States. The couple was seen driving to the actor's mansion located in Los Angeles.
Hanks took to Twitter to announce his return to the United States, while thanking everyone in Australia who looked after him.
Tom also took the opportunity to thank and ask his followers to stay at home, saying that isolation is the most effective way of not contracting the virus and preventing its huge spread: "Hey, Folks... We're home now and, like the rest of America, we carry on with sheltering in place and social distancing. Many, many thanks to everyone in Australia who looked after us. Their care and guidance made possible our return to the USA. And many thanks to all of you who reached out with well wishes. Rita and I so appreciate it. Hanx," the tweet said.
The actor shared a photo of a corona typewriter earlier in the month to share with his followers that his symptoms were stable. He also added that, "we are all in this together. Flatten the curve."
On March 11, Hanks, 63 had revealed that he and Wilson, 63 had both tested positive for COVID-19.
"We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches," Hanks wrote on Instagram. "Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive."
He was one of the first public figures to share a positive test result for the virus.
