Selena Gomez has been open about her struggle with Lupus in the past. And now, she is opening up about the scars from her kidney transplant. The Ice Cream singer posted a photo of  herself wearing a blue zip-up one-piece bathing suit, where you can see a long scar on the inside of her right thigh.

The singer underwent the surgery in 2017 after her diagnosis of lupus and received an organ donation from her friend Francia Raisa. In 2015, the singer went public with her diagnosis of lupus after years of living with the disease during an interview with Billboard.

While Raisa was more direct in sharing photos of her surgery scars in the months after the transplant, Gomez admitted that it took a little longer to make it up to her. When asked during an interview with Billboard whether she felt comfortable showing the scar, she said, "I didn't feel it, but now I'm more confident."

Gomez said in her instagram caption: "When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar. I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through...and I’m proud of that [...] all bodies are beautiful."

The singer had previously revealed she only liked bathing suits that covered up her scars. But in years since, she has opened up several times about her health and wellness, and recently came forward about her bipolar disorder in a chat with Miley Cyrus.
