Hermès' Plein Air Collection Calls for the Appreciation of Natural Beauty
Inspired by the invigorating effect of fresh air and the freedom of the outdoors, the House of daylight has formulated a collection of products to help women embrace their natural beauty through the movement of life and light.
The era of covering up your “flaws” is over, suggests Hermès Beauty with their latest Plein Air (which translates to ‘outdoors’) collection. The House of daylight has come up with a brand new range to celebrate and accentuate natural features with their lightweight Complexion Balm, Radiant Glow and Matte Powder, as well as their very own silk blotting paper and powder brush.
“In the 1920s, Hermès encouraged women’s emancipation,” says Artistic Director of Hermès, Pierre-Alexis Dumas. “The house’s director, Émile Hermès, wanted his four daughters to be in tune with their times, observing their way of life in order to provide them with the right equipment. He created clothes that enabled women to participate in outdoor sports, to travel, drive a car and even fly an aeroplane. Hermès Plein Air is entirely consistent with this approach, revealing the natural beauty of women through their freedom.”
Inferring from the House’s approach to the range, this collection targets the free-spirited modern woman who appreciates simplicity, wellness and movement above others. Plein Air only encourages said individuals to be who they truly are with just a small push; to provide a slight enhancement of what these women already possess with the help of their products.
Unlike harsh foundations with intentions to conceal, Hermès’ Complexion Balm acts as more of a pigmented cream to complement and reveal one’s skin without taking away from its natural beauty. Available in 12 shades and packed with hyaluronic acid complex, white mulberry extract, primrose oil, Baikal skullcap, and most importantly, SPF 30 / PA+++, this “raw” foundation elevates the existing canvas one is blessed with at birth whilst protecting it from further damage from external aggressors.
“The complexion balm is the part that remains unseen, an object that is not ‘exposed’. The tube is functional, simple, fundamental,” says Pierre Hardy, Creator of Hermès Beauty objects and Creative Director for Hermès shoes and jewellery.
To take things up a notch, the incorporation of the House’s Radiant Glow and Matte Powders only accentuate the effects of the Complexion Balm. These lightweight, almost-silky powders also contain extracts of white mulberry and emollient actives to illuminate and reveal glowy skin for days out in the sun. All packed in a delectable compact casing that’s representative of the House’s eye for gorgeous luxury goods, be it in clothing, accessories, or in this case, beauty products.
