We’ve seen it all over TikTok – beauty gurus and professional make-up artists have been raving over the latest trend: Siren Eyes. But what do ‘Siren Eyes’ look like?
The trend is essentially an evolved version of the cat-eye and fox-eye make-up that were previously on the rise as well. Siren Eyes are an upgraded sultry and sensual version that brings out a dark feminine side.
The name ‘Siren’ originated from Greek Mythology — sirens are hybrid creatures (half-bird, half-human) who entice sailors with their irresistible singing, eventually luring the unwary to their death. They symbolised temptation and desire, ultimately translating it into a make-up trend.
Inspired by the '90s supermodel smokey eye make-up, we’ve seen stars like Bella Hadid, Alexa Demie, Kylie Jenner, Megan Fox and more bearing the seductive look, eventually popularising it.
This eyeshadow technique manipulates and elongates the eye shape to create a narrow and flawless lifted effect.
Here’s a quick tutorial on how you can recreate the latest trend:
1. Start with a neutral brown shadow and blend it all over your lids.
2. Blend some dark brown shadow onto your outer corners, blending it upwards to give a lifted effect.
3. Use a pencil liner (you can also do so with a gel liner or black eye shadow) to trace out the waterline.
- Afterwards, smoke it out with a brush to elongate the wing, connecting it with the lower lash line. Smudge out the lower lash line with an eyeliner brush for a more sultry effect.
- Finally, trace out your inner corners and extend them to elongate the eye.
- Finish off with some mascara and you’re good to go!
