The 10 Highest Paid Celebrities Of 2019
You won't be too surprised to learn that Taylor Swift has claimed the top spot on the list of the highest paid celebrities of 2019. The singer-songwriter earned USD$185 million (pre-tax) in a year alone, thanks in large part to a new record deal with Universal Music Group, an array of endorsements, and the tail-end of her 53-stop Reputation world tour, which broke records as the highest grossing tour in U.S. history. This is the second time that Swift has topped the list - her first was back in 2016.
In second place is Kylie Jenner, supposedly the youngest ever self-made billionaire, who made USD$170 million, followed by her brother-in-law Kanye West in third place with USD$150 million. Soccer star Lionel Messi and singer Ed Sheeran rounded out the top five, with USD$127 million and USD$110 million, respectively.
Although the ranking is led by two women, the gender pay gap is still a problem, because in the list of 100 celebrities, only 16 are women. Among the athletes, the best placed player is Cristiano Ronaldo, followed by Neymar, who is the only Brazilian on the list.
