Looks From The Dior Cruise Show 2020
This year's Dior Cruise 2020 show sought creative exchange with African cultures, set against the backdrop of beautiful Marrakech. The vision of the collection was set to be like a tapestry of connecting ambiances, ideas and imagery, a "common ground" of sentiments revealed through traditions, places, cultures, and savoir-faire.
One feature that made its way through the collection was the usage of Wax print fabric, a textile that has had its origins and evolution running all the way from Europe and Asia, eventually making its way into Africa. Maria Grazia Chiuri celebrates the fabric's diversity with her collaboration with Uniwax factory, reinterpreting and weaving in the Dior code in this season's collection, with new toiles de Jouy coming to life, recasting various landscapes and reinventing tarot motifs, as seen in the various looks.
Bringing together cultures and emotions, she also amplifies the power of Nature-punctuated with ecru silk, silk gauze, and shantung in shades of sand, indigo and burned red ocher, enhancing the dynamic of the coats and suits, pleated skirts and trousers in the collection.
Through its diverse cultural dialogues, the Dior 2020 Cruise collection offers a condensation of realities and temporalities by being the unique fabric inspired by countless locations, time and spaces that give rise to a fresh perspective of possibilities.
